BMW Repair: 2001 BMW 530i Coolant Guage, coolant level, coolant temperature

Question
On the above mentioned vehicle the coolant temperature guage stays level then it moves to hot than it goes back to level.  I do not smell any antifreeze nor do I loose power when driving. Please help.  vin #cf10792

Tyrone, check the coolant level when the engine is cold. There is a programming fix for the DME software if the software is at fault. I read a bulletin the other day about this problem. Please check the cooling system for leaks by filling and pressure testing. Does the low coolant light come on? Is the cap holding pressure?
