BMW Repair: 528i (1997) wierd happenings..., airbag warning light, wierd happenings

Question
This monring while driving into work the inside courtesy lights switched them selves on. Then the radio screen went blank (although it still plays music), but I cant switch it off or adjust the volume either. Then the airbag warning light came on, and I have just noticed that the vanity lights arent coming on. I switched the car off and restarted it but the problems still remain - except the radio will play for about 20 seconds and then swtich off but the button to switch it back on wont work BUT if i press the SET button then it will start playing again but still with no volume control. HELP?

Dario, please replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The ignition switch is failing.Remove the plastic steering column covers (plastic screws and splits in two) and Should be on the left side of the column. Remove small painted over flat head screw retaining switch. I believe the part number is 61 32 6 902 013 depending on your cars production date. Check with local BMW parts personel.
