BMW Repair: Instument Cluster Display, 2002 bmw 530i, cpo warranty

Question
I own a 2002 BMW 530i. The instument cluster display is beginning to dim in certain areas.  Also, the computer display LED diodes are failing one by one. Is this something that can be repaired, or do I have to replace both units? If it can be repaired how and is it difficult to remove the units?

Answer
Dwayne, bad news those lights on the cluster can't be replaced. The cluster must be replaced (thank manufacturer VDO). They are $$$.$$ and must be coded by the dealer to transfer the mileage from old to new clusters. I usually charge two hours to replace the cluster and code it with the programming computer. Hope you have a CPO warranty. The Multi-Informational Display or (MID radio, no NAV) is also only replaced as unit. I assume you don't have the big board monitor with Navigation. These are also not cheap. Good news though it is easy to install and no coding needed. You have to make sure you get the right one because there were a ton of variations on this unit. You also have to take it out of European mode. Sorry about your luck.
