BMW Repair: heater blower resistor, heater blower resistor, wire bundles

Question
where is the resistor located on a 1991 325e conv.

Answer
George,
To my knowledge, there weren't any 325e convertibles, unless it was some special edition.  It should be a 325i convertible (this will help if you need to order future parts).

If you open the hood, and look at the fire-wall directly above/behind the engine (in front of the windshield), you will notice there is a panel that can be removed. (2ft wide and  1ft high, roughly)  There are some large wire bundles that run across this panel, so they will need to be moved out of the way.  There should be 3-4 8mm bolts holding this panel on.  Once the panel is removed, you will see a black plastic box, that houses the blower.  Remove the plastic cover on the blower box, and you will see the blower motor.  The motor is between the two fans, and the resistor card is on the bottom of the motor.  You should be able to pull the card out.  I would clean the contact points on the card, and try it again before I bought a new resistor.

 good luck,
 Josh
