BMW Repair: BMW 2000 323i front right signal light replacement, fender lip, bmw 2000

Question
Hi,
I'm trying to replace my front signal light and get the light fixture out, but i'm having difficulty releasing the switch.  It appears as if one could move the lever to the left and right, but does the lever go down i.e. push it down to release the whole fixture to get to the bulbs?  I'm scared to bend the lever to the left and right for fear of breaking it, but pushing down doesn't make sense either.  How does one get the front unit out to get to the bulbs to replace them?  Thanks!

Answer
Rex, There is a hole in the fender lip. If there is no philip screw the it is the tab style housing. With a long screw driver or the like find the springy tab and push down while wiggling the housing out of the fender. Please replace the bulb and it's Plastic socket together (contacts burn on the socket). Reinstall bulb and slide housing back in until it clicks.
