IVE DID MY RESEARCH BUT I LIKE YOUR RESPONSES TO PREVIOUS QUESTIONS

Answer
I am suprised that you would want to swap out your four cylinder for the bigger drivetrain. That M42 is practically bulletproof. Motor swaps are not my area of expertese. I would think it would be much easier to trade up to a 328i than to retrofit one. I don't know how you would pass smog (I live in California, it is very tough for us). If you are doing it because you like the challenge then I admire that. I would definately speak with someone who has done this before you pull the trigger on the deal. Remember it would be extremely hard to resale the car after a swap like that and it won't have any resale due to the alterations that will be made. Sorry I am not of use to you, but check the bimmer chat forums or maybe back issues of roundel magazine. Do your homework (which it seems you are by asking questions). Good luck whatever you decide. And thanks for the compliments.
