BMW Repair: 1987 325is, hood latch, push pull

Question
My hood latch release is broken. How can I get to my engine for an oil change? Is this something I can get into without a mechanic or is it a BIG Repair?

How hard is it to replace the wires and Plugs on my guy as well?

It has been in "storage" for the past two years and now I would like to get it back on the road. I am not the most mechanically inclined but would like to save a little as we all know BMW means "Break My Wallet".

Any rec on a Mechanic in Chicago?

Answer
Tim,
If you step outside and look at the front grille, locate the headlights on your right side.  These will be "driver's side" headlights.  Just to the inside of the "bright" light, there will be a small cutout in the grille.  You should be able look into this cut out and see where the cable attaches to the hood release.  Push/pull on this release and the hood should pop loose.

Unfortunately I do not have any recommendations for the Chicago area.. I live the the S.E. US.

 Good luck,
 Josh
