BMW Repair: radio codes, 325 bmw, vin

My 1988 325 BMW had to get a new battery becuase the old one happened to go dead.  Since, my radio won't work and reads code. Are you able to give me the code or can you tell me where i can find it?  thanks

 Usually the code is written in the owner's manual.  I would flip through it and see if you can find where the previous owner wrote it down.

 If you dont have the manual, or it's not written in there, you can get the VIN and call the dealership.  The dealership should be able to tell you what it is, or how to find it.
