BMW Repair: Stiff Brake Pedal, 1988 bmw 735i, power brakes

Question
I have a 1988 BMW 735i, which I just bought. The brake pedal is very, very stiff. It takes a lot of energy in order to press the brakes. I need to press it real hard to make the car stop. It feels like there is no power brakes. Do you have any idea what could it be? Or what to look for?

Thank you in advance.

Answer
Ulisses,
I sounds like your brake booster is gone (power brakes) it's a pretty simple fix.  I dont know much about the 7-series, so I'm not going to be much help on actually replacing the part, but most cars are the same.  Its the big black drum located on the firewall in the engine bay.  It would be right in front of the driver.  There should be a vacuum line running to it, so check to make sure its not unplugged.

 Good luck,
