BMW Repair: 1997 bmw535i noise, fan shroud, driveshaft

Question
Hi I have a 1997 bmw535i steptronic petrol with two problems.
1/ after aprox 15 min driving in heavy trafic using the brake a lot i develop a knock at the front,i have changed all the bushings.this will go away if the car is parked for a short time
2/ when turning right only there is a growling noise from the front this only happens with the steering on and when the ar is accelerating not when the car is coasting the noise goes away in a straight line
Best Regards

Answer
It sounds to me like the engine is moving around in the engine compartment due to bad mounts (engine and/or transmission)
Knock at the front after driving for a while implies the engine is creaping forward and hitting the body of the car somewhere.  The growling noise is most likely the fan hitting the fan shroud or possibly the driveshaft hitting the underbody of the car.  It is common on this model car to have the driveshaft hit the heat shield when the mounts or center driveshaft support are sagging/torn.
check this out and get back to me.
Cheers!
