BMW Repair: speedometer cable 1988 3251, speedometer cable, wheel bearings

when the car is first accelerating, a clicking/whirling noise comes from underneath the rear passenger side, but stops after car speed hits 5-10 m.p.h

i assume its the speedometer cable -- any ideas how to replace, and where to get access from ?

Jim,
 Unfortunately these cars do not have a speedometer cable.  They have a sensor on the differential that senses speed and from the ring gear, and it's all electronic (no cables).

 Check for the sound coming from wheel bearings, or the differential its self.
