BMW Repair: Wheel alignment, wheel alingment, wheel alignment

Question
I just bought a 1996 BMW that needs the wheels aligned and balanced.
Is there a special procedure for that (do I have to take it to a BMW dealer) or can I have it done elsewhere?
Thank you,
Deb

Answer
If you bought your bmw from say a dealership then of coruse they will tell you to take it there and have it done.  But you don't have to take it there if you don't want too.  Always remember when it comes to dealing with your car is that it is just a car like the rest of them.  In all actuality bmw's are a whole lot eiser to work on then most cars these days.  They make them simple.  I do all of my work myself on mine.  So as far as a wheel alingment and tire balancing, you can take it anywhere you like.  just make sure you get a four wheel alingment and not a two because it is rear wheel drive.  And at least take it to a place that is familiar with allingments like midas or mineke. Even goodyear.  Places like that.  And in some cases if you are straped for cash the corner mechanic, but use your descritioin with that one.  Thanks.  If you have anyother questions you can e-mail me at rahthedeputy@yahoo.com
