Hi, I have a 1987 BMW 325i 4 door sedan with power windows and i have a serious problem. My BMW is blowing the power window fuse everytime i replace it, i am replacing it with a 30amp fuse which is exactly what it is supposed to be installed. I tried disconecting the front windows assuming that was the problem but it did not solve anything, now i look at the window relay switch by the defog button and i disconnect it :) finally i got some results the fuse did not blow and the sunroof was operational. Then i wanted to keep progressing and i connected the relay switch to test and see where the problem was coming from im guessing it is the driverside window motor but if the switch is disconnected why would it blow the fuse.....?

I would be really gratefull if you could help me solve my problem, could you give me any ideas of what it could be, can i fix this on my own, if not how much would it cost, and if im going to do this on my own can i have the window switch wiring diagrams?

Thanks,

Sherwin

Knowing when and how often the fuse blows would be helpfull.
Does it blow when tou try and open a window or all by itself?Does it blow with the rear window lock-out turned on?

Hi,its me again and sorry i haven't responded sooner, you asked how often it blows, well everytime i turn the key on the ignition it will blow the fuse immediatly after. The rear lock button is pushed down. The front windows are still disconnected and the relay switch is diconected. It still blows the fuse as soon as i turn the key in the ignition. Then i connect everything but the front windows because i don not have a BMW window switch wirring diagram and i push the rear lock button and i turn the key i still get the same effect. Hope this helps you rule out my problem.

Thanks....

Answer
You must have a short to ground in the Green/Grey wire that goes from the window circuit breaker and feeds the window switches and rear lockout swith.
To verify disconnect all window swiches in center console and rear lockout switch. Somewhere under the console it must be pinched to the frame etc
The wire also runs under the drivers seat and there is where all the power wires are spliced together.  You will have to pull the drivers seat and follow the wires under the carpet.  Possible water damaged wiring?
