GMC Repair: Brake noise, gmc safari, speed sensors

Question
Hi, I live in N/W Indiana with lots of salt on the roads in the winter and have a 2003 GMC Safari 2wheel drive with the 6cyl vortec engine. I wonder if you may be able to tell me something about my brake problem. First of all my brakes appear to work OK and no fault lights are on (Brake or ABS).
When I apply the brakes, the van comes almost to a stop and then just before stopping, I hear a buzzing from the front wheel  (appears to be driver side)which continues until the van stops. Which part could be the cause of this? The Van has about 120000 miles on it. Could new rotors and brake pads resolve the issue or should I look at the ABS?

I pulled the ABS fuse and the noise goes away but of course the ABS fault light is on.
         Thanks Jurgen

Answer
Hi
It sounds like you are describing one of the wheel speed sensors malfunction. Even though the ABS light is not illuminating, you may have a wheel speed sensor fault.
I would have it checked for ABS codes. If the EBCM (Brake Control Module) sees one of the sensors "slipping" it will activate the ABS. Possible the left front wheel is locking up?
Have the brakes checked, and perform any services needed, and have the EBCM scanned for any history codes.
