GMC Repair: fuel pump/gage, fuel pressure, fuel pump

I have noticed when a idle, my gas gage will 'jump', this has been happening for about 4 months. Now, in the past couple of weeks my truck (a 2001 GMC 5.3L) has started rough. It will spit and sputter and I have to rev it up to keep it running. It usually clears up in a few minutes are the next morning.

It sounds like you MAY have a fuel pump issue.
Before spending $$$$$$$$$$$ on the parts, I would check the fuel pressure and see if it is at specs (55-62psi), especially while running rough.
