Acura Repair: 1997 Acura Integra Oil Leak, head gasket, acura integra

Question
I have a '97 Acura Integra that started to leak oil after having an oil change.  I took it to local mechanic who replaced the oil switch.  I am still getting oil leak. Can you help solve this?  Many thanks.

Answer
Hi Joyce,

What type of oil did the mechanic use? Most times if the oil starts to leak right after an oil change it would be from either the oil drain nut, he may not have replaced the O ring. It also could be the oil filter there is a rubber ring around the filter, there might not be a tight seal there.

If both of those areas are ok I would recommend getting the mechanic to place dye in the engine, drive it around for a few days and then use a UV light to find out where the leak is coming from.

Also if he used synthetic oil on the engine it is possible the leak is coming from the head gasket.

Lat me know if you have anymore questions,
Thank you,
Daniel
