Acura Repair: emission light, gig harbor area, acura dealer

I have just moved to the Gig Harbor area of Washington. My yellow emission light has come on and no one in town can seem to tell me what's wrong as they say only an Acura dealer/repair person can help me. I have a '97 CL. Is this true? I believe the closest one is in Seattle and I'm afraid to drive my car that far. It drives fine, and I checked out the gas cap. It's on tight (per the manual's instructions.) THanks! PB

In most cases when an emission light turns on it has to deal with your exhaust system. It could be that your catalytic converter is clogged up or that your O2 sensor would need to be replaced. Do you smell anything out of the ordinary when your car is running? Do you hear any rattling? Does your exhaust make a loud noise while driving?
