Alfa Romeo Repair: Passenger Break Light, light thanks, door switch

Question
Thanks for the reply.
Our battery went dead today and needed the AA to come and restart us, he looked at the fuses which were fine and said he does not think it is the relay.  Do you think this is something only ALFA will be able to fix ?

I have recently noticed that when I drive and also when the car has been parked and alarmed that the passenger break light automatically switches itself on and can stay on for anything from 1 minute to over 30mins.   The battery went dead when I first noticed this but after taking it to my mechanic he believes it will need to go into Alfa as it has something to do with the ECU on the car and could cost up to £500 !
Please help !!!!!

You have a faulty relay--probably the contacts are  burned.
Pull the light bulb or pull off the connector at the bulb socket until you find the faulty relay/timer.  Also, ck the door switch--it could have caused the relay problem.

Answer
Why look at the fuses. If the light is on the fuse must be good.  Pull the relay. Have a knowledgeable mechanic take the relay apart or measure the resistance of all connections.

At least, take out the bulb until you find someone who actually understands electricity.

There is the outside chance that the ground has been lost and you have a backfeed through the courtesy light--but not with the key off...
