American Motors: 85 CJ7 Carb Problem/Starting Problem, carburetor, fuel pump

Question
I have an 85 CJ7 Automatic.  When I try to start the jeep it
will not start no matter how many times I pump it.  If I pour
the smallest amount of gas into the carb, it starts right up
and will continue to until it sits several hours.  Carb was
just recently rebuilt.  Can you help?

Answer
First thing after the vehicle is cold try this:
DO NOT START THE ENGINE!!!
1) Remove the air cleaner
2) Open the automatic choke with your finger
3) Use a flashlight to look down into the carburetor.
4) Operate the throttle and you should see gas shoot out into the venturi
If you do not see gas shooting into the carb, there is a problem with the accelerator circuit. If there is gas shooting into the carburetor, I would check your fuel pump and filter.
