American Motors: 4.0l 727, full size jeep, amc cars

I am building a jeep comache pick up truck for the drag strip. I would like to put a 727 in it, I know I need one from a full size jeep so the bolt pattern will be the same, but all I can find are 4 wheel drive trans's. Is there something I can do about the tailshafts so I can get it to work with my 2 wheel drive truck

AMC used the 727 since 1972 in their cars, too. Vehicles with a 360 or 401 had the 727 trans. Being the engines are the same between AMC cars and Jeeps, a trans for an AMC car will bolt up to a Jeep. You might have to cut a driveshaft for proper length, though.
