American Motors: Diff. 3.54 & Shifter Hurst, ring and pinion gears, borg warner

Hi; I am the owner of a 68 AMX 4 speeds with a 343 engine.
   I want to change my 3.15 diff for a 3.54 twin-grip and my actual shifter for a Hurst shifter.
    I see on e-bay some of them so my question is, can I put the 3.54 diff. coming from any AMC cars and also can I change my shifter for a hurst one that coming from a earlier model
ex:  70 Rebel, 72 AMX etc...

Answer
As long as the ring and pinion gears are from a V-8 AMC, it will work. You will need to use a new colapsable spacer when setting up the pinion gear. The T-10 Borg Warner trans has used the same Hurst shifter for many years. The only difference being the shift lever shape.
