Audio Systems: Car Audio, laser diode, competent technician

Question
I have a SuperSound stereo
Model No: CDTM2600
Code No: CD-6904M
PLU No: 4873
Error 4 keeps coming up and it spits the CD out... sometimes after several 100 times it will finially play the Cd and even if I turn the car off its it all good... until i feel the need to change the CD again!

Answer
Sorry, I don't know this manufacturer and could not find anything in the database about it.

But, one of the greatest causes of failure to read a cd is a weak laser diode inside the optical pickup module.  The reason it sometimes plays may be due to its weak nature and when it once gets started it will continue to read the data on the disc.

Another reason for failure is the electronic servo system that operates the pickup is defective.

Either way, it requires testing by a competent technician who can identify the exact nature of the repair and then make the repairs.  These repairs are often more costly than replacing the unit.

You can try cleaning the lens of the pickup; it may help. Use a cotton q-tip to just flick off the surface of the lens.  Sometimes microscopic dirt will accumulate causing these kinds of problems.

Best wishes.
