Auto body repair & detailing: Rust and dent repair on an 86 Jaguar, 1986 jaguar xj6, rusted areas

Question
Ken~
I own a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 with something over 250,000 miles on it.  I have rust in the usual Jaguar places--door bottoms, and some in front near the grill.  None of the local shops are interested in doing this work.  I want to start very small--one or two areas.  But need to know how to prep the area, ream out the rust, if I need to back the opening with somesort of mesh.  The areas I want to work on are less than one inch.  Thanks.

Answer
The rusted areas need to be grinded with a 36 grit grinding disk down to bare metal and a small peace of metal welded over any holes. Than grind down the welds and apply fiber glass and sand smooth. It should look like it did before it rusted in that area. Than apply some bondo over the entire area and sand that very smooth use 180 grit to do the fine sanding. Than prime area and let dry. Sand dried primer with 400 grit wet paper and scuff entire panel with 3M scuff pad. You are now ready for paint.
