Audio Systems: Loss of fm reception Rotel RT-950-BX, antenna connections, antenna connection

Question
The tuner has suddenly stopped picking up an FM signal although is still fine for
AM. Any ideas - all that happens is there is a fuzz noise and no capacity to tune
into anything. Any ideas for cause and solution welcome. Many thanks.

Answer
Check the back side of the tuner. There are two antenna connections; one for AM (screw terminals) which is usually connected to the self-contained loop and one for FM (75 ohm F connection).  See if the FM cable has become disconnected.

Then, check the FM cable from the tuner to the FM antenna for broken cable or accidental cuts and bruises.

Then, check the FM antenna connection and condition of the antenna.

If the antenna system, cables and connections seem proper and normal then it is likely the FM tuner section inside the Rotel has become defective and will need service.  An audio shop can quickly check it out and offer repair advice but it will need testing and voltage checks for what may be wrong with the circuitry.
