Audio Systems: Dual XD6110, antenna connections, jeep wrangler

Question
We recently purchased a 98 Jeep Wrangler with an after market Dual XD6110 am/fm/cd player in it. The fm worked fine at first, but the am did not work (farmer husband has to have it) so the dealer got us a new antenna. My husband installed the new antenna but now the only option we have is the cd which I think the previous owner has stuck in it because it will not eject. What do we need to do to get the radio to switch from am to fm or even to one of our cds? The buttons seem to be locked up..

Answer
The good news is that the speaker systems seem to wired up correctly since the cd is playing.  Is it playing in all speakers?

The above pdf will give you the wiring guide for your Jeep should you need to check that portion of the installation.

For older cars, grounding of the antenna to the chassis of the vehicle can be a problem.  Making sure the antenna is properly seated and the ground line a good metal to metal contact is important.

Now, after double checking the antenna connections, make sure the power connections are proper.

Above is the operators manual for your Dual radio.  On page three you will see two power wires that must be connected:  Red to the ignition and yellow to battery.  Make sure they are correctly connected so that radio sections will come on.

Hoping this will bring the radio to full operation.  If it does not the Dual may be defective.  But, let me know if you need more help.

PS: THe manual above is for a different model than the one you have but it should be useful for your installation.
