-----Question-----
Hi i was wondering what kind of amp i need. I have one kicker sub and enclosure (Tc10) i got from circuitcity. I also have two pioneer 6 by 9 speakers.I listen to classic rock mostly. Do i need a amp for both the sub and speakers? Do i need 2 or 4 channel amp and how many watts should it be. thanks for any help you can give me.

well, personally i dont like 6x9s much.  reason being is that oval speakers usually distort more than round speakers and the fact that a 6x9 is large enough to produce strong mid bass but too large to go into a front door means that most cars have them in the rear.  the problem with this is that they draw your attention to the back which sounds distracting from how a sound system should sound.  the sound should apear to come from the front only and have some rear fill but not the majority of sound coming from the rear.  if you must use 6x9s I recomend running them from the head unit (cd player) and not off an amplifier.  the front speakers should always be louder than the rears to create a solid front sound stage.
As for the Tc10 its rated for 125 RMS at 4 ohms.
A great inexpensive match for this sub would be the power acoustik OV2-400 seen here:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/POWOV2400

run it in bridged mode, it's rated for 210 watts into a single 4 ohm load and your sub is only rated for 125 but trust me it will be fine.

Let me know how it goes!

well the reason I dont like 6x9s is mulit faceted.  the main reason is that they are alomost always in the rear of the car and have alot of surface area which ends up makeing them louder than the front speakers.  this draws your attention to the rear which is not what rear fill is all about.
If you really want to do your ears a favor you should have 2 amps.  a 4 channel amp that runs all your door speakers and a mono or 2 channel amp that runs your sub.  each amp will have a crossover circuit in it to filter bass out of the door speakers and filter highs out of the subwoofer.
a 4 channel amp will also have separate gains (volume knobs) on it so that you can balance how loud the front speakers are in relation to the rears which will couteract the problem I was talking about previously of the 6x9s being too loud and focusing your attention to the rear.
I still recomend the OV2-400 for the sub and I recomend the OV4-800 to run your door speakers.
again, these amps have built in crossovers to the bass will get filtered out of the door speakers, allowing them to have less distortion and be louder since they arent trying to produce bass that they cant properly make anyway.
and the sub amp will route the bass to the sub like it should.  the crossover for the front speakers should be set about 180hz, the rears should be set at 90hz and the sub should be set at 90hz.  this will evenly cover the entire sound spectrum and make each speaker do what it was made for.
Let me know what you think.

5 channel amps are usually more expensive than the 2 amps I recomended.  Is it just a space issue or what?  I've found the power acoustik amps to be very reliable.  I have 2 in my jetta, I have 1 in a friend's jeep, I have 1 in a friend's berretta and another one in a friends mazda.  all have been installed for over a year now and still sound great.  no complaints at all.  In fact, go to www.sounddomain.com and look them up, there's tons of reviews on all their stuff there.  read what others think.  If you're worried about it having a problem, get it from a store where you can return it (like sounddomain) you'll pay a few bucks over what you could get it for on ebay but the peice of mind may be worth it, and if you have a problem or just plain dont like it, then it will be worth it too.
If you want to spend a little more money for a name brand amp here's a 6 channel amp from JBL that would work for you:

Answer
the amp should be rated anywhere from:
50Wx4 @ 4ohms + 100Wx1 @ 4 ohms
up to
90Wx4 @ 4ohms + 200Wx1 @ 4 ohms (recomended)

These are RMS ratings DO NOT go by peak power ratings,  if you find an amp that doesnt say whether its peak power or RMS DONT BUY IT!
It MUST have independant highpass and lowpass crossovers for front, rear, and sub.  and they must be set right or your front speakers will blow.
