Audio Systems: Sony Car Stereo Installation Problem, sony car stereo, car stereo installation

Question
Hey,
I am installing a Sony CDX-CA710X CD Player in my 1966 Chevy Pickup. I hooked up the red and yellow wires (Hot)to the fuse box clip that says radio. Then I hooked up my black wire (ground)to the body and the darn thing wont power up. I checked to see if my fuse box may have been messed up buy taking the radio and clipping an alligator clip on the hot wires and another alligator clip on the negative wire. I then clipped them straight to the battery post and still nothing. I took the radio back to the pawn shop and they hooked it up to their wall unit (115 volts) and it powered up fine. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your time and any help you give.

Answer
weird, try connecting only the black to ground and yellow to power first for about 30 seconds, then connect the red and see if that helps.  some units dont like when both red and yellow connections are powered at the same time. in fact that can actually blow some units.
you can also try taking the unit out of the dash and try to connect the wire Directly onto the battery terminals instead of using the extra aligator clips in the middle just incase they're bad,  just be careful, car batteries are dangerous.
