Audio Systems: PC headset, best headphones, stereo headphones

Question
My headphones bit the dust recently.  Im looking into using VoIP so im considering getting a headset instead this time.  Ive seen many sites that review headphones, but not much about headsets.

I use my headphones for 8h a day on average so i definatly want something that is comfortable.  My PC has an onboard 7.1 channel sound card.  Im not sure of that matters for headphones, but i dont belive my PC would be able to power large stereo headphones.  I use my headphones for everything, gaming, music(all kinds), movies, VoIP.

Could you reccomend me some headsets? If you cant reccomend any specific ones, then could you tell me what to look for.  That way ill be able to make sence of all the stats, and make an informed purchase.

Answer
Sound quality is totally subjective. You can only satisfy yourself by auditioning phones of your choosing.  So, do some homework by reading reviews on epinion.com and cnet.com and such places; then go to the stores and listen extensively.

Only meaningful speciifacations are:  Sensitivity and Price!

Look for at least 100db sensitivity and your PC amp will drive them beautifully.  Less than 100db may require external amp.

Will give you some ideas.  The Joe Grado phones are good; he is a personal friend of mine and he is such a perfectionist for sound quality (for his own personal taste) you would never believe it!  But you have to pay almost $100 to be in this league.  These are about 98db sensitivity, so a little low, but probably okey.  They are 32 ohms Z which are compatible with PC listening.

Not that I am recommending them; just as an example of how to study them out.
