Audio Systems: Radio / CD Player, jeep models, no screws

Question
2002 Jeep Liberty ~ The radio went out, wiggled the fuse and it came back on, radio went out again replaced the fuse(s) and still nothing, when turning lights on all lights but radio do not come on(not time / station showing)there is a cd in there also. I am not sure how to take it apart to check and see if there is a fuse in with the wiring harness for the radio. There are no screws, but looks like there should be a way to pull the radio face apart ~ can you answer this one? Thank You Michelle

Answer
If wiggling the fuse brings player on or off you will probably have to replace the fuse port (not the fuse) but the housing of the fuse; may have a cold solder joint or loose holder, etc.  Or, could be something loose inside that wiggling the fuse just vibrates something nearby; you should investigate that angle, also.

Here is a site for studying removal and installation of players into the jeep liberty that may be of help.

www.installdr.com

does not have the jeep liberty mentioned specifically, but other jeep models are shown and they may be helpful where similar;  you should surf through them for what benefit they may be.

There are manuals you can buy that shows by picture how to remove and install; but they cost $$.

Anyway, to remove most car radios/players now days require unsnapping some part or all of the dash - thus giving visual of the mounting hardware that is holding the unit in.  There may be screws underneath the dash or there just may be clips.

Here is how one person did it:

Hope this will help.
