Audio Systems: no sound, nissan pathfinder, ohm speakers

Question
I recently replaced my factory radio in my 1995 Nissan pickup to an in dash cd/radio player(cheapy). I only changed it out because something happened to my factory one that caused the sound to stop.  The radio appears to be playing, but no sound.  I have checked all the fuses atleast 3 times and I can not locate any fuses under the hood. Thank you for any help you can provide, Paul Johns

Answer
Just to clarify, the factory radio all of a sudden stopped making sound from every speaker but continued to appear to work (lights, ejects disk, etc) SO you changed it out with a new unit and it does the exact same thing?  the new one didn’t work even for a minute?
when you say "pickup"  i'm assuming its the Nissan Pathfinder correct?
Research I'm doing shows that the 95 Nissan pathfinder has a bose system with 2 ohm speakers and a separate amplifier (cant find the exact location though).  this amplifier has probably blown as they are known for. if you think the Bose system is far superior to another after market system, then you will have to take it somewhere that fixes bose.  Personally I believe whole heartedly that bose is a gimmicky marketing company that sells extreamly overprice stuff simply because "they're bose" go into any hi-fi audio shop and you wont find any bose.  talk to any audiophiles and they will all laugh at the mention of bose.
Your best bet in my opinion is to buy new speakers and run the wires from them yourself to the back of the new cd player.  I'd be happy to help you pick out some new speakers.
good luck!
