Audio Systems: Alternator Noise & Head Unit turns off intermittanly, panasonic head unit, rca jacks

Question
I have a 96 Toyota Tacoma. I installed a Panasonic head-unit w/ factory setup. No problems. I resently added to my system by putting in an Amp and using the RCA jacks from the head-unit to plug in to the Amp. I ran new 16 gauge wire from each speaker to the 5 channal amp and wired then individually (no cross-over). I grouned the amp between the seat and the body (sanding both to ensure a good ground).

I have 2 problems; First, I have an alternator noise which gets louder as the RPM's go higher. Which I assume is a faulty body ground.

Secondly, I my head-unit is turning off after about 15minutes. I remove the faceplate and turn it back on it's ok again. The power button will not work, I have to remove the faceplate or turn the truck off and then on again. This i can't figure out, I ensured i have the amp hooked up to the AMP wire from the head-unit (blue w/white strip) - Remember I had no problems till i hooked up the AMP.

Answer
Try this test, hook the amp turn on wire to the red accessory wire instead. If the on/off problem goes away, you could either use a relay to run this wire, or just leave it run by the key.
As for the noise, the RCA cable(s) should run down
one side of the car, and speakers, power, turn on, etc, run the opposite side. Induced interference is usually caused by power wires. You can also try this test, unhook the amp ground wire from the car, and clip a booster cable from the black wire to battery negative. See if the noise changes and get back to me.
