Audio Systems: 94 mercury grand marquis factory tape/radio deck, mercury grand marquis, internal fuse

Question
let me first say thanks for your time. I have had a '94 grand
marquis for the past year and despite being comfortable with the
stereo not working, it's not a good selling point. Basically, im
getting no operation from the deck. The power doesn't come on,
the display doesn't turn on, and i can't hear any noise from the
speakers. The clock works and some power is getting to the deck
because the buttons are illuminated. The automatic antenna does
not work. I've checked the fuse box and they are all good. I was
wondering if there was some internal fuse in the deck or
somewhere i'm not looking. Thanks again,
thomas

Answer
Sadly, it sounds like an ordinary 12 year old Ford radio to me.
No fuses that I am aware of.
Sorry, but it is time for an upgrade :)

Walmart Durabrand indash cd player with MP3 and CD-r CD-RW capability (burn your own tunes to cd and it plays them). $70.00-80.00
It will trigger your antenna (if it's still working).
The MP3 format is very nice because you can have about 150 tunes on one cd.

A Marquis wiring harness kit (so you wont have to cut wires on the factory harness)  $10.00

A Marquis Radio installation kit. So it fits the factory hole. $10.00

Moving up from tape (only) to 'any' type of CD.. PRICELESS
:)

I hope this helps.
