The cd tray on this unit opens and then closes immediately. Then when you touch the play button the tray opens again. Is there an adjustment inside this thing that I could get to to fix it?

No, there's nothing you can do. You need to have it done by a qualified repair technician. Frankly, if it's not working, I'd junk it and get a DVD player: it'll play all your CDs and (depending on the make and model) many other formats; the electronics are more up to date; they're cheaper; and there's no audible sound difference.

My guess is that you can get a good one for not much more than what it will cost you to repair the CD player.
