Audio Systems: Bose head unit swap, stock radio, bose radio

Question
Hi Tom,
I sure hope you can help me with this. I have an 85 Corvette with the factory Bose system. To get a CD player I swapped the stock radio for a Bose radio from a 94 Camaro. I bought the wiring harness adapter from Replacementradios.com, hooked it all up, and it worked and sounded great. However, when I turned the radio, or the car, on or off there was a load pop from the speakers. I read that this was probably a bad amp relay, so I replaced it. Well, that didn't eliminate the pop and the speakers remain energized, even with everything off. This drains the battery. Doing more research, I have read that the harness adapter needs a small modification to properly energize the relay in a Bose system. Something about a pink wire and a blue wire. (There are a couple of pink wires and 3 shades of blue wires)I have not been able to find out exactly what that modification is. And, I am reluctant to cut wires without a diffinative answers to the problem. Do you know the modification that I need to make? Or, another source of this problem?

Answer
Jerry,
One of the wires in the harness will have a slight time delay so it will turn on the power control relay a second or two after the stereo is turned on. You may want to use a test lamp to locate the relay control wire for the amp/s. You can also use the 12 test lamp to find out why the relay is powered up at all times which will drain your battery.
