Audio Systems: CD Player Error Codes, rubbing alcohol, player error

I am having the same problem that you had with my 2000 Honda Civic CD player.  I am getting that E-00 error code.  I bought a CD cleaner, but it's not a wet one.  I read on the previous screen to try and clean it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.  I'm not sure what to clean.  Please advise.  The dealership said they would have to send it in and it would be at least $200.  I don't want to get a new stereo since I've only had this car like a year and already had to put on new fuel injectors at 38,000 miles.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

The error code E-00 is an err message that tells you that the laser isn't seeing the CD. This may be due to the laser lense being very dirty or very weak. To clean with a Qtip and rubbing alcohol you will need to take the CD stereo out of the dash and remove the CD assembly from the unit. With the CD assembly removed you may be able to see the laser lense. If you can see the laser lense simply wipe it clean with the Qtip just dampened with alcohol.
