Audio Systems: speakers on right side have decreased volume, 1993 lexus es300, lexus es300

Question
I have a 1993 Lexus ES300 that was involved in an accident (passenger side collision).  I purchased the car after it was repaired.

The volume on the passenger (right) side of the car is much lower than the left.  If I turn the balance knob to about 3 o'clock, both sides are somewhat equal and the sound is decent.  However, if the balance knob is positioned at 12 o'clock, there is an obvious difference.  All speakers are working and I have not noticed any other symptoms.  I am all ears.

Thank you for your help.

Joe

Answer
Joe,
When turning the balance control to the left you are decreasing the volume to the left side speaker/s, this way the sound level are just about matched. You may want to swap the front speakers and then turn the balance control to the 12 o'clock position to see if the swapped speaker now on the left side is playing lower. When the vehicle was in an accident, the speaker on the right side may have been damaged by water if the speaker was in the door or on the dash and it got wet somehow! If after swapping the speakers and you do not notice any difference in the right side output, it may be possible the the amp was damaged if the speaker wire on the right side was shorted to ground during the accident. Let me know what you find out after swapping the speakers.
