Audio Systems: Steering wheel capability, wheel connector, t d lee

Question
How do you know if a stereo/radio system is compatible with steering wheel controls? Most stereo websites you go to do not mention if it has this option or not and i have a grand am 96 with a 20 pin connecting cord.

You will first have to know if the stereo in question has an external input for data inputs. second, you need to contact the manufacturer of the stereo to ask what vehicles the stereo will work with. On many stereos that have a data connector you will need the adapter that will connect the steering wheel connector to the stereo.
