Audio Systems: Speakers, chev blazer, liabary

Question
Hi Cody,

I have a 1996 Chev Blazer with factory sound.  The two rear speakers don't work at all and the right front speaker works sometimes and not others. There does not seem to be a pattern as to when it works and when it dosen't.  Any ideas?

Thanks

Answer
George,

i have a 1998 blazer mine havent gone out completely yet but the rear speakers cut in and out with static as they want i havent bothered because its my 4 wheeling/work vehicle but mines caused by water where i 4 wheel alot... what your describing is the final stages of the speakers going out where the rears have already blown the voice coils and the fronts are well on their way .. the only cure is to replace them with some new after markets .. the door speakers are 6.5 and the dash are 4x6's but i only done the swap out in my S10 that didnt have rear speakers so i would guess they are 6.5 or 5x6 somewhere in that range but check before you buy anything... you can buy a decent set that will far outperform the stockers for about 20 bucks a set maybe even cheaper if you shop around on the web.. here is my best kept secret its where i buy almost all of my electronics from they have great prices that i havent seen anybody beat yet its www.etronics.com go there surf around until you find the ones that fits what you need and your budget.. now the install isnt hard you will have to drill the rivits out of the door speakers and put in some screws but that is no problem if your not familer with your dash panels pick up a haynes repair manual from you local auto parts store or check your liabary to rent one.. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
