Audio Systems: Stereo Speaker No Sound, pioneer speakers, loose wires

Question
I have a pair of pioneer speakers that are about 4-5 years old. They are 3 way speakers with 16in woofer.  After connecting them to my reciever, no sound comes from one of the sperkers.  THe other is fine.  No noices, static, nothing.  How can a tell what is wrong and how to fix.  Note that the recieve is fine as a try the speaker that works in both the left and right input.

Answer
Dear Conway,

Well, you've done the first thing, which is to switch the speakers from one channel to the other.

Nothing from a speaker is not a good thing. The problem could be any number of things from a loose crossover or connecting wire to blown drivers--tho' for all three to blow at once would be extraordinary--to a blown crossover. There's no way to tell without opening it up and knowing what to look for. Loose wires are easy. Everything else takes a pro.

Take a look inside and check all the wiring. If something's loose reconnect it. If everything looks in order, then you'll have to take it to a qualified repair technician for diagnosis.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!
