Audi Repair: Low acceleration, coolant temperature sensor, mass airflow sensor

Question
QUESTION: My 2006 Audi A6 is not accelerating and although the blower is working, the heater is not producing warm air. One more thing, when there is a heavy rain, the passenger side floor gets wet. Are all of these things connected? What may be the cause of each problem???

ANSWER: I don't think all of these are connected.  It sounds like you have a leak in the windshield seal or a clogged drain in the area in front of the windshield which lets water in during heavy rain.  clean all leaves and debris out of that area.  If the heater is not producing hot air, where is the temperature gauge of the engine?  If that is OK, then there is a problem with the heater valve.  If the engine temp does not change, then suspect the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (ECT) which is a common failure.  Jan

QUESTION: Thanks, but what about the lack of acceleration???

Answer
Is the car misfiring or backfiring?  what does the temperature gauge indicate?  Could be the mass airflow sensor, many things can cause poor performance.  I need more specific information for each problem otherwise everythign becomes a wild guess...  Let me know,  Jan
