Audi Repair: Audi a4 died while driving, audi a4, engine fan

Died while driving. now will power up and engine fan will turn but starter does'nt crank Any ideas?

Do the ignition lights come on?  Do you see them dim slightly when you try to crank the engine?  It sounds like perhaps your starter has gone bad, but it is curious that the engine died.  Possibly there is an interlock which stops the starter from activating.  There could be multiple reasons for a no-start, what happened just before the engine died?  Any work done, fuel stop, electrical work, accessory fitted?  All the fuses OK, any check engine lights?  Let me know,  Jan
