Audi Repair: Audi 95 Cabriolet radiator fans, radiator fans, radiator hose

Question
The heater coil went out on this car about six months ago. We bypassed it, replaced the water pump, and thermostat and it's overheating again. When I got to it, the main radiator hose was disconnected, so I reconnected it and refilled the reservoir, but neither of the radiator fans are coming on and the fuses are fine. I drove it about 25 miles this morning and it never overheated, but the fans are still not coming on. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Drew

Answer
There is a thermal switch normally in the bottom of the radiator which controls the fan switch-on at a certain temperature.  Make sure this switch works.  You can either test these in a kettle or let the car idle and watch the temp.  Fans should come on before the end of the normal temp range is reached.  Let me know,  Jan
