Yes, but I am not sure if that will save your transponder key memory. If you have a PK III transponder system. In other words, the engine may not start because the keys are no longer recognized.
In this event, you may need to call a locksmith to reprogram the keys to the computer.
This is the manufacturer's idea requiring one to take the vehicle back to the dealer for a couple hundred dollars of service work to get the engine running.
Fords are notorious for this event. Disconnect the battery and your done! No start!!!
The memory chip may prevent this event on your vehicle. This is just an event you need to be aware of.
