QuestionQUESTION: I have a 2005 Cadillac CTS and I am experiencing problems with starting the car. The problem is that when you turn the ignition key you will hear a single "click". After several attempts the car will start. The first time this happened I took the car to my local mechanic and he replaced the starter relay and the battery. This did not fix the problem. The second time it happened I took the car to the local Cadillac dealership. They replaced the battery, stating it had a bad cell. The battery company confirmed that after 24 hours on a charge that it would not take a charge. So maybe I had a bad battery, however, every few weeks the problem will occur. Voltage reading for car is fine etc. Is there something else that could be causing this problem?

ANSWER: This CLIC noise that you hear when you have the fault. Does it sound like a light relay click sound or a heavier deeper click sound like a starter solenoid ?.
Is the click coming from behind the glove box ?

AnswerThe starter relay is located behind the glove box and this IS what you are hearing.
Therefore, You have a problem with your PASS-KEY security system.
