Cadillac Repair: Engine popping through carb., 1985 cadillac seville, spark plug wires

Question
I have a 1985 Cadillac Seville. I just had the heads rebuilt. And put new lifters and push rods in. I put it all back together but I am getting a loud, sporadic popping noise coming through the carburator. while idling or giving alittle gas, but worse when giving gas. It is not like a back-firing popping noise but more like short snapping sound like a loud cap gun. The car starts and idles just fine other then the popping noise. I have not tried driving it yet. I have tried: loosening the valves, messing around with the distributor and timing. I traced all vacume and smog lines, I think I have the right firing order and plugs going to the right spot. I was hoping that you might have an idea what the problem is. I would appreciate light you could share on this problem I am having. Thanks!

Answer
I doubt that you have a carb, You more likely have 2 fuel injectors setting in the center of the engine , Correct ?, And you have a 4100 engine.

There is no valve adjustment as they are hydraulic. You may have a faulty lifter or the spark plug wires are not wired correctly.

You may have a bad spark plug wire.
