Cadillac Repair: engine light, fleetwood brougham, carburator

my 1989 fleetwood brougham delegance 5.0 w/carburator, was heating up and check engine light came on i changed the t-stat because it wouldent open. now the light comes on after i run the engine for a few minutes and idles rough and stays on. it dident overheat enough to damage the engine would the heat have fouled up a sensor or something in the smog pump sytem?

Lets check the computers for codes:

DISREGARD previous response. You do NOT have thje below system on your vehicle. You will need to have a scanner put on the vehicle to extract the FAULT CODES>

My mistake.






1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold for 3 seconds the OFF and WARMER buttons and then release them.

3. Fault CODES will start to appear and will stop at .7.0

4. Write down all the codes EXACTLY in the order in which they display and let me know what they are.


5. turn ignition OFF.
