Chevrolet Repair: transmission s10 4L60E, sticky valves, torque converter

QUESTION: Hey Tom,this David with the 97 s10 pickup. I have replaced the transmission twice but have the same problem, it's a L460E automatic. It does not change from 2nd gear to 3rd gear or go in reverse when it's cold. It is full of new fluid, new filter and new torque converter.(could it be the computer not signaling the transmission ) ?? What do you think.
The truck has 200,000 miles on it.
The transmission has 112,000 miles on it
P.S. THIS TRUCK IS A 'LEMON' IF I EVER SEEN ONE.!

ANSWER: HI DAVID,WELL THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION,,THE NO SHIFTING WHEN COLD SOUNDS LIKE STICKY VALVES IN THE VALVE BODY OR SHIFT SOLENOIDS HANGING UP. THE NO REVERSE WHEN COLD SOUNDS LIKE THICK  OR DIRTY FLUID OR PLUGGED TRANS FILTER. THIS COULD ALSO BE THE PROBLEM WITH NO OR LATE SHIFTS POINTS FROM 2 TO 3....BUT YOU SAY THIS IS ALL NEW..THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE..WHO REBUILT THIS ??? IS THERE A WARRANTY,OR WAS THIS FROM THE JUNK YARD AS A REFURBISHED UNIT ??? [I HOPE NOT..] THE PROBLEM OF SHIFTING FROM 2 TO 3 COULD BE FROM THE PCM BUT THIS SHOULD SET A CODE FOR NO TO LATE SHIFT POINTS...THE NO REVERSE WHEN COLD COULD NOT BE CAUSED BY THE PCM [COMPUTER] BEING THAT IT IS DOING THE ABOVE I WOULD CK INTO THE VALVE BODY REAL CAREFULLY AND CK SHIFT VALVES AND OR SOLENOIDS..LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU,,,TOM

QUESTION: Tom I don't have the skill level to pull the valve body apart and reassemble it. It's here an additive that I could use to free up sticky shift valves.And are the shift solenoids inside the valve body.?

HI DAVE, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO ANY OF THIS IF THIS TRANS WAS JUST REBUILD..HOWEVER IF YOU FEEL THIS WAS NOT REALLY REBUILT AND THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THIS, YOUR BEST BET IS TO GET THIS TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AT A SHOP THAT HAS A TRANSMISSION FLUSHING MACHINE,AND AFTER THEY FLUSH ALL THE OLD OIL OUT OF TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTOR,TELL THEM THAT YOU ALSO WANT THEM TO DROP THE PAN AND INSTALL AND A NEW FILTER AFTER FLUSHING IT..THEN GET YOURSELF A CAN OF TRANSMETIC AND PUT THIS IN WITH THE FRESH OIL..THIS WILL FREE UP AND STICKY SHIFT VALVES IN THE VALVE BODY. CAN BUY THIS AT ANY PART STORE.  AND THEN HOPE FOR THE BEST !!!!GOOD LUCK TO YOU TOM...
