Chevrolet Repair: hinge pins, retainer ring, chevy tahoe

My '99 Chevy Tahoe drivers door top hinge pin will not budge. Ive removed the spring, the retainer ring and jacked up on the door, and now the pin is starting to mushroom from me beating on it with a hammer and offset pointed chisel. Using a torch will ruin the paint. Is it suppose to be this hard?

Hi Paul... try removing the hinge by the bolts....off the door and the post... then you can do in a vice... other option is to cut pin above and below the hinge top and bottom so you only have to drive out small part of the pin thru the holes instead of trying to drive whole pin...hope this helps
