Chevrolet Repair: 1990 Celebrity Heater Problems, resivoir, start car

Question
After having to drain the coolant in my 1990 Chev. Celebrity wagon (3.1 V6 MPFI), I have a terrible battle getting my heater to work again.  I checked the ALLDATA website and they state not special bleeding/"burping" procedures necessary for this system.  I currently have no heat.  The last time I had to drain it I was successful in getting it back by jacking up the vehicle and flushing water with a garden hose through the heater core in both directions.
The system is very clean inside, I am assuming I am getting an airlock.  Nothing I do this time is getting me my heat back - and it's getting awfully cold on the way to work!

Answer
Hi Ed.... yes they can be a problem....try removing one heater core line and filling up with coolant then reinstall. refill cooling system completly and start car with coolant resivoir cap off...Make sure that the thermostat is opening, not stuck closed. run car untill air bleeds out resivoir...if that doesn't bleed system, run car till hot and shut off, allow to cool and refill again. sometime they will burp when cooling...hope this helps
