Chevrolet Repair: fueling issue on my Venture van, fuel vapors, sewer gases

Question
I have a 2001 Chev Venture, 3.4 liter. I now have 210,000 km's (140,000 miles?). It has been reliable and cheap, I commute about 80 miles return each day. I have an annoying issue though, when I fuel it up, it always stops before its close to full. Not sure of the price difference hear, but I can put $15 to $20 more fuel in if I go "slow", otherwise it keeps shutting off. Almost like there is a venting issue, or a kink in the fill pipe (I have visually checked this). Any suggestions? I talk to other owners of similar vehicle and they claim no such problem. Its a big deal simply because of how much more often I need to fill it up. What should I do? It seems to be getting worse with time.

Answer
The newer vehicles are designed to prevent fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. The fill tube creates a liquid seal somewhat like a toilet to prevent sewer gases from entering your home. I did a bulletin search and found no related bulletins. I have seen some problems as you describe but not as bad as yours. The only thing I ask is has the vehicle every been in a collision which may have bent the fill pipe? If you had a tank venting problem the Service Engine Soon Light would come on. I'd suggest just filling it on the slow speeds. Does this happen at all gas stations or just one...could be an excessive flow rate from the pump.
